Proofreading: .006 per word

No job is too small or too big. I’ll work on a manuscript of 1,000 words or 150,000.

HOW IT ALL WORKS

Step 1: Sample edit

I not only offer a free sample edit of one chapter (up to 5,000 words of text), I highly recommend it.

This is the best way for you to see if you like my editing style and for me to know if I’m the right editor to help you. I may not be.

I’ll edit your sample text using tracking features, just as I would do when editing your complete manuscript. If you want to hire me after seeing my edit, I’ll have some questions for you about your manuscript before we start.

Step 2: Contract

Once we’ve decided to work together, I’ll ask to look at the full manuscript so I can calculate the editing price and draw up a contract that we both digitally sign.

MY CONTRACT CONTAINS:

The fixed cost of your edit

The deadline by which I agree to turn in your edit

Terms of payment

Language that acknowledges and protects your intellectual property

Step 3: Editing

Once you’ve made your initial payment of 50% of the total cost, I’ll begin editing.

WHAT’S INCLUDED:

Two readings of your manuscript, with notes on suggested changes using tracking features like MS Word’s Track Changes.

A style sheet — a simple document that lists all the major changes I suggested to your manuscript. It’s a handy reference you can use to keep language and spelling consistent when you go back and revise or add text.

Step 4: Ready!

When I’ve finished your manuscript, I’ll email you to let you know. At that point, you’ll need to make any outstanding payments before I can email you your edit.

HELP AFTERWARD:

I want to ensure my suggested changes make sense to you, and I don’t want you left with any lingering questions, so don’t be afraid to ask, even months after your edit is finished. My communication lines are always open.
