About the editor
I started Aguilar Editing because helping people improve their writing is my passion.
I’ve spent my entire professional career editing all sorts of writers—from first-time and experienced authors to newspaper reporters, to immigrants writing down their life stories for the first time.
I take on editing projects I believe in. I’ll have plenty of suggestions on how to edit your manuscript, but I always remember that the author is in the driver’s seat and that my job is to make their words as perfected and professional as possible without changing your voice or your ideas.
I want to get your work to where you want it to be. There’s no point in being a successful writer if at the end of the day you hate your edited product.
My personal reading interests include literary fiction and genre fiction (historical fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, supernatural, romance, and thrillers to name just some). I also like reading nonfiction like memoirs, travel writing, and history.
I specialize in editing first-time authors, those who self-publish, and authors of LGBTQ+ fiction.
A Mexican American born and raised in the U.S., I’ve lived since 2016 in central Mexico with my wife, our dog, and our two cats — who each tolerate me editing at a screen all day for a living with varying degrees of patience.
